This hand knotted mala is made from 108 light brown Sandalwood beads. In ancient Buddhist tradition, the warm, calming aroma of Sandalwood was believed to stimulate self awareness and invoke states of deep relaxation when used during meditation. Sandalwood stimulates the Root Chakra, and by extension connects us to the earth – body and soul. The mala also features a dramatic burgundy tassel. The robes worn by Tibetan monks are of burgundy colored cloth. In Buddhism, red is said to be the color of the sacred realm.
