This hand knotted mala is made from 108 light brown Sandalwood beads. In ancient Buddhist tradition, the warm, calming aroma of Sandalwood was believed to stimulate self awareness and invoke states of deep relaxation when used during meditation. Sandalwood stimulates the Root Chakra, and by extension connects us to the earth – body and soul. The mala also features a striking orange tassel. The robes worn by ancient Buddhist monks in Southeast Asia were orange in color, as that was the most accessible dye at the time. Their robes became a symbol of devotion and humility.
